Ani’s Orphans began as a Facebook page where Ani wrote about the dogs that came into her foster program.
It begins with the story of Molina, a pregnant mama dog who gave birth in the orphanage and five days later decided she’d had enough. Ani, with only a few foster dogs under her belt and never a mama dog nor neonates, suddenly found herself in sole charge of keeping eleven itty bitty baby dogs alive as well as tending to their poor mother who was too young to have babies and needed nurturing herself.
Those puppies and the ones who followed inspired much of her values and the models of care that she designed and on which she continues to improve.
From there, she began to pair the science of canine & human behavior with the principles of LEAN to address canine and human needs and foster lasting, robust relationships between species.
With the support of SO MANY members of our community, she created Ani’s Orphans, Inc., formed a Board of Directors, and continues to use her rehab model to improve her system which embraces efficiency, prevents recidivism, and serves our fosters and adopters as much as it saves and ensures the most vulnerable underdogs have every opportunity to live rich, full lives.
